PRESS NOTE Jammu & Kashmir Association of Chest Physicians (JKACP) A Pulmonology Medical Camp was successfully organized on 28th April 2026 at University of Kashmir, Srinagar, in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Association of Chest Physicians (JKACP) and Paras Health Srinagar, with the aim of enhancing respiratory healthcare services and promoting awareness regarding chest diseases and allied health concerns. The camp was formally inaugurated by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Controller of Examinations, and Registrar of the University of Kashmir, who appreciated the efforts of JKACP and Paras Hospital Srinagar in bringing specialized pulmonary healthcare services closer to the people and emphasized the importance of such community-based medical initiatives. Prominent chest physicians and members of JKACP who actively participated in the camp included Dr. Rajinder Singh, Dr. Naveed Nazir Shah, Dr. Naeem Firdous, and Dr. Arshid, Dr Mir Faisal who provided expert consultations and supervised the smooth conduct of the medical services. The camp witnessed an overwhelming public response, with nearly 250 patients availing specialist consultations and diagnostic services for various respiratory illnesses, including asthma, COPD, lung infections, allergic disorders, and other chest-related ailments. The major highlights of the Respiratory Medical Camp included: 1. Free distribution of essential medicines to patients requiring immediate treatment and follow-up care. 2. Comprehensive respiratory screening facilities including Chest X-ray, Pulmonary Function Test (PFT), Forced Oscillation Technique (FOT), and important laboratory investigations such as Blood Sugar, HbA1c, and other routine baseline tests. 3. Live demonstrations by respiratory therapists regarding proper inhaler techniques, respiratory device handling, and patient education for long-term disease management. 4. Specialist consultations and clinical evaluation provided to approximately 250 patients, ensuring timely diagnosis and appropriate treatment advice. The camp also received valuable collaboration and support from Paras Health Srinagar through dedicated nursing staff assistance, monitoring of vital parameters, and overall clinical coordination. Dr. Madeeha, Clinical Psychologist and Mental Health Specialist, made a separate and significant contribution by providing psychological counseling and mental health support to patients requiring emotional and behavioral health intervention. Her involvement helped address the psychological well-being of patients alongside their physical health, making the camp more comprehensive and patient-centered. JKACP reaffirmed its continued commitment towards public health outreach, early diagnosis of respiratory diseases, patient education, and strengthening access to specialized pulmonary care across Jammu and Kashmir through such impactful medical initiatives.
